The foundation of Rohidas Samaj Panchayat Sangh, Mumbai was laid in 1952 by veteran social worker, freedom fighter, and ex-M.L.A. Late Shri Sitaram Namdeo Shivtarkar. His vision was simple yet powerful – to unite all Charmakar brothers and sisters under one roof and work collectively for their upliftment. Over the years, the Sangh has served as a guiding force for the community, completing more than six decades of unmatched service in education, financial support, and social development.
Along with the Sangh, two important trusts were established:
With the blessings of Padmashri and Ex-M.P. Late Shri Narayanrao Kajrolkar, a plot of 1298 square yards at Parel was allotted to Rohidas Samaj Trust on lease for 999 years. On 12th March 1992, both trusts were merged into Rohidas Samaj Panchayat Sangh, Mumbai, giving the Sangh two major properties at Parel and Worli.
Since its inception, the Sangh has taken several initiatives for the welfare of Charmakar families:

One of the Sangh’s most cherished dreams is the creation of Sant Rohidas Bhavan at Parel. On the Golden Jubilee of the Sangh (22nd February 2004), President Shri Bhagarum Kadam announced the construction of the Bhavan. Since then, a strong drive has been undertaken to raise funds through donations and community support.
The proposed 4-storey Sant Rohidas Bhavan will be built on the existing plot, symbolizing unity, cultural pride, and a bright future for the community.
Rohidas Samaj stands as a beacon of unity, social upliftment, and progress. With its continued commitment, the Sangh honors the teachings of Sant Rohidas and ensures that future generations inherit a stronger, more empowered community.
